4th Meeting of the 183rd Session (2003-2004)
In the Wolfson Suite, Ground
Edinburgh University Library
George Square, Edinburgh
On Monday 23rd February 2004, at 7 pm
Our Dynamic Earth has now been a feature in Edinburgh since 1999. 5 years down the line is a suitable time to reflect on whether or not it has been successful in achieving its objectives and how it needs to develop in order to do what is necessary to meet the needs of Society from 2004 onwards. The importance of engaging with science will be explored in the light of the recent report by the Scottish Science Advisory Committee and the role of science and discovery centres like Dynamic Earth investigated as a way of helping people get to grips with a dynamic scientific environment.
The President, Dr Stuart Monro, will be in the Chair
Nominations for Fellowship of the Society will be tabled at the meeting.
There will be an announcement about the forthcoming Science Festival lecture.
Apologies for the lateness of this notice. There will be industrial action in the University later in the week and we have only just received confirmation that the building will be open on Monday.
Members of the Public are welcome to attend
