Stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability, but innovation is transforming what can be achieved. Professor Grunwald will explain how mechanical thrombectomy removes clots from blocked brain arteries and why every minute matters. She will explore the University of Dundee's work to widen access through multidisciplinary training, and describe a hybrid Mobile Stroke Unit model designed to bring diagnosis and treatment closer to patients. The lecture will conclude with the world's first transatlantic robotic thrombectomy in a human cadaveric model, demonstrating how robotics, remote expertise and collaboration could reshape the future delivery of emergency stroke care.
